Curriculum Vitae

 Scott Roberts P.E. Principal Engineer

Premier Deck and Dock: Orlando Florida. Design for over 27 different private docks in 2007 in and around the Orlando area. Typical projects consist of covered dock, boat lift, and walkway. Design for high wind loads on an open structure, and berthing and mooring loads for small vessels. (Performance Engineering Associates)

Derringer Residence: Jacksonville, Florida. Design of 3000 square foot wood frame and block single family residence on slab foundation with trussed roof in 130 mph wind zone. Design included incorporation of ASCE 7 design criteria, and review of truss design for inclusion in project. (Performance Engineering Associates)

Ten Mile Creek Water Preserve Area: Ft. Pierce Florida. Engineering Lead for $40 million dollar above ground reservoir, and storm water treatment area. Project consisted of; 6000 acre foot deepwater storage, with 2 pump stations, and 2 gravity flow gated culvert and weir culvert structures, and 150 acre treatment area. Five mile of earthen embankment with soil cement wind and wave armoring,  . Facilitated the advertisement, and construction, as well as coordinated all engineering technical issues before during and after construction. Prepared and coordinated Emergency Action Plan and dam safety inspection program, and initial filling plans. Conducted initial Dam safety inspections and produced periodic reports. Project constructed in partnership with South Florida Water Management District, as part of over everglades restoration. (USACE)

Rio Puerto Nuevo: San Juan Puerto Rico. Engineering lead for 3 separate construction contracts totaling over $150 million as part of larger project in San Juan Puerto Rico. Individual contracts I was the engineering lead on included; Bechara Industrial Area, De Diego Bridge, and Rio Puerto Nuevo channel improvements. (USACE)

De Diego Bridge: Engineering lead for $25 million contract to deepen channel beneath bridge, provide debris walls, and widening, a bridge the serves over 50,000 motorists daily on the De Diego expressway in San Juan PR. Project included deep drilled shafts, that provided new support for existing precast piling bents. Design for an active seismic zone required. (USACE)

Bechara Industrial Area Drainage: Engineering Lead for $70 million contract to construct culvert, and channel to drain an adjacent industrial area from flooding, in and beneath an active port at San Juan Harbor. Project included the design of a wharf deck, wall, pilings and slab subject to high mooring, berthing, crane, and seismic loads. Secant piling culvert, with covered construction (tunneling type) used with minimal disturbance to port activities above. The connection, and relocation an obsolete and damaged 90 inch sanitary sewer force main in channel upstream of the culvert was included with a hot-tap to facilitate no breaks in service to connecting plants. (USACE)

Rio Puerto Nuevo Channel Widening: Engineering lead for design of $30 million channel widening and deepening contract, including an earthen levee. Connects to both De Diego and Bechara contracts. (USACE)

Portuguese Dam Valve House:  Ponce Puerto Rico. Dynamic structural analysis using site specific ground motion, and design of valve house for the Portuguese Dam Flood Control Project. Design in an area of high seismicity, with special detailing of reinforced concrete shear walls, and columns using finite element design software. (USACE)

Rio Ojo De Agua: Aguadilla Puerto Rico. Design of crib dam for debris capture, 1000 feet of super elevated culvert beneath city street, and ocean outfall for flood control. Design challenges include close proximity to historic structures, with concern to limit vibration, and prevent settlement due to shored excavations. (USACE)

Canaveral Lock Repainting and Guidewall: Cape Canaveral, Florida. Engineering lead, and construction representative for $5 million repainting, and guidewall construction. Painting included white metal blast and application of proprietary zinc rich primer coal tar epoxy paint system in a dewatered humidity controlled lock chamber. A timber guidewall was replaced with a Fiber Reinforced Plastic Piling system, with plastic lumber walkway framing. Wall was designed to resist, large impact and mooring forces from barge traffic (NASA). Many construction constraints were encountered due to environmental concerns such as manatees, and lead based paints. (USACE)

Infinity Homes: Denver, Colorado. Engineering and design lead in  addition to primary client contact, with 16 different model homes at three subdivisions, with prices ranging from $350 thousand to $500 thousand. Design lead for Daniels gate project winner (tango model) in 2002 Denver Parade of Homes. Home included pier foundations, and structural steel basement floors, in highly expansive clay soils. (Martin Design Inc,)

Bartholomew House Apartments: Denver, Colorado. Structural design of $1.8 million 4 story wood frame building, supported on flat plate concrete slab above covered parking structure in downtown Denver. Design included 100 mph high wind area, unbalanced snow drift loadings, shrinkage, and deflection calculations for 4 story wood framed structural system. (Martin Design Inc,)

Lee Residence: Las Vegas, Nevada $1 million custom home, structural system wood frame and CMU block, on slab foundation. Siesmic loading controlled lateral design. Special considerations were required with use of wood frame floor trusses to be used as collector elements for lateral forces. Tight schedule required so that owner may break ground on day most favorable for feng shui of building.

Orchard Creek Apartments: Denver, Colorado. Multiple building multi-family complex, with different building types. Design included high wind and snow loading. A perforated shear wall analysis was used to minimize hold down requirements. Structure founded on post tension slab on grade. (Martin Design)

Stone Ridge Apartments: Northglenn, Colorado. Multiple building multi-family complex, with different building types. Design included high wind and snow loading. A perforated shear wall analysis was used to minimize hold down requirements. Structure founded on post tension slab on grade(Martin Design Inc,)

Tynan’s Volkswagen Dealership: Northglenn, Colorado. Structural design of block, and light guage metal, with steel bar joist roof. Special detailing required for elevated steel storage area and stairways. (Martin Design Inc,)

The Beauvallon: Denver Colorado, $49.5 million The Beauvallon offers 204 condominium units, a fitness center and spa, a gourmet supermarket, multiple specialty restaurants and shops, an outdoor heated pool with swim-up bar and oversized hot tub, and 600 covered parking spaces. (Martin Design Inc.)
